The campus was pretty stale today after work.
So, I know it’s summer when the campus starts acting a lot less lively. I’ve been here four years, and each summer the campus goes through this, I miss it being all crazy, all the time.
Although me and my friends boredom, outside of work, has got us hanging out again, which is a nice change.
Goofing off, the only way to code. That’s Renee, in the back, with all her paper :)
I think I mentioned before about how much time I’d be spending working on the Cobweb project. Already I’ve been spending 6-8 hour days working on it.
We had a meeting this morning with the lady in charge of working with the College Executive Committee, and already they’re excited to see what’s coming out of me and Renee’s office.
We have a lot of work to do this summer, the site is going to be an intense platform/application; meeting the most up-to-date standards, working well with the rest of the university, mingling well with content management systems and publishing software. It’s hard to think such a massive piece of work will be coming out of my little lappie (laptop).
Me, mighty mouse and my trusty lappie at work.
I’m trying to develop the site to be as much self managing as possible, letting anyone publish content at will, while the website does all the nasty work in the background. And, I don’t think they quite get how complex everything is, and so they’re rushing our already ‘pushing it’ December deadline.
But, as always, I plan to stand my ground and focus on quality work.
Soo and James at the Tennis Center on another windy day. May 12th 2008
I haven’t been spending a lot of time at the NMSU Tennis Center since my arm getting better, it’s been windy day after day. My arm was at about 70%, this morning hitting with Jason, preparing for a match tomorrow.
Although he almost got past me today, me winning 7-5, I was crippled :)
I also haven’t been off to a good start on my goals for the summer, especially the one where I’m going to work out like a beast and get in shape for some tournaments. But, I’m working on that; if they would just quit bringing cake to the office, you know I have to have at least two slices!
Walking along the bike trail. Travis, Las Cruces, NM
Oh, and I’ve also been walking everywhere since my bike was stolen.
So, I’ve been getting in a little extra excersize for all the wretched snacking going on at my casa.
Chips from left over Taco Shells and Baileys Salsa
So, I thought I’d throw a summer update out there. Actually I was bored, but it just proves my point!
@ T. Roth & Another Pretty Face.
The code on this baby is as old school as you can get, not to mention the design! Check out the all-caps HTML tags, frames, complete with body attributes, tables and font tags with size, font-family and color attributes; with literal color values like lightblue.
Make sure and check out what number visitor you are with the counter on the bottom left!
So I finally got a chance to sit down today and work on Imagine Cambio. The design has been alright, but there were some much needed improvements that were incorporated into the theme, dubbed ‘almost aggie’.
From the looks of things, doesn’t look like much. But, it was just a few small details I’ve been wanting to work on for some time.
I still have some more plans for the site, like a lightbox for images, etc. But, I need to think about how much I really want to do that.
Thanks for watching kids!
I must say, I really enjoyed using the visual editor for once. Thanks Wordpress.
I just thought I would shoot out some updates on a few things about the coming summer, and fall semester.
Well, things are looking up in the living situation. For those of you that don’t know, I was in a little bit of a pickle (and pickles are only good with chicken sandwhic..iches? Sandwiches, yeah sandwiches, spelled that way).
I am currently living a perfectly able apartment out on Telshor Blvd, but it’s just a wee too far from campus, and given how much I am going to be at campus next semester, having a motorcycle and all, it would be a lot easier if I could just trot back and forth.
So me and Spencer, and friend I met through a friend, and going to start looking for a place next semester. I’m pretty excited, Spence’ is a really cool guy, and although I’m totally down with meeting new people and all, it’s going to be nice to live with him. We may even get another girl in on it, Shea. I’ve always hated living alone, it will be nice to have roommates again!
I would like to take some classes this summer, specifically this one class I can’t seem to concentrate on, but if I can finally pass it, I’d have an Associates in Graphic Design out of the way. I remember I used to make fun of the transfer students that got out of Graphic Design and went on to major in Nursing or whatever, and here I am, doing the same thing.
There are some areas of interest that seem to stand out in my life:
Tennis (wide scope of critical thinking, training and business), teaching, writing about how to live life, and helping people with everyday problems.
After sitting down and writing my thoughts on what to major in, in my little notebook, I found these things standing out.
After researching, I’m starting to think that majoring in Philosophy and Psychology (not quite aware which should be the minor), will help me in all these areas, which I could dabble into each or excel in one. Plus, I would really love studying these areas, and I’m sure my interest will help me pass the classes. I declined the idea of majoring in business, because I knew if I hated the classes, it would show :).
I am totally committing myself this summer and fall to completing my biggest project yet, the College of Business website at NMSU (Cobweb).
I’m struggling with the pay, and maybe a little bit with the hours, maybe that’s something that can be worked out later, but for now, I’m pretty excited about the work I am doing. We are really going forward with it, and using some real critical thinking in it, so it’s fun and engaging.
Tennis, for once, has been on the back-burner. I have been focusing a lot on other things, because tennis is just one of those things in my life that are not for sure. But, I am developing well as a player, and Ivo Karlovic (CRO) is keeping my hopes alive about, one day, playing in my late twenties. I mean, nothing is definite, but I do plan on playing in tournaments, one at a time, and seeing where it takes me.
I’ve made it a staple mental note to remember: quality/quantity. Even if I am playing at a lower level (non-professional, against the best), doesn’t mean my level of playing is there.
I still practice hard everyday, and it will be even more so this summer. By the way, I do need to think a little more on this, about using my summer, maybe I shouldn’t take any classes, although I have a zillion scholarships from spring semester just sitting there, waiting to be used. (Hmmm)
But, I really need to start winning some matches, before I can really take myself seriously about playing in Futures again.
Overall, things have been looking up, I try not to worry so much about it all, but just act when I see an opportunity, and I hope I can keep it up, and they’ll take me somewhere.
