Theatrical guitar genius Kyle Riabko in What Did I Get Myself Into.
Check out the rest of his albums, totally worth a look! I remember finding him on Yahoo Video about two years ago, and it was this song and his crazy guitar love making that struck my initial interest.
He also has a podcast [search on iTunes], he’s a pretty interesting artist to get to know. Enjoy :)

The campus was pretty stale today after work.
So, I know it’s summer when the campus starts acting a lot less lively. I’ve been here four years, and each summer the campus goes through this, I miss it being all crazy, all the time.
Although me and my friends boredom, outside of work, has got us hanging out again, which is a nice change.
Coding Away

Goofing off, the only way to code. That’s Renee, in the back, with all her paper :)
I think I mentioned before about how much time I’d be spending working on the Cobweb project. Already I’ve been spending 6-8 hour days working on it.
We had a meeting this morning with the lady in charge of working with the College Executive Committee, and already they’re excited to see what’s coming out of me and Renee’s office.
We have a lot of work to do this summer, the site is going to be an intense platform/application; meeting the most up-to-date standards, working well with the rest of the university, mingling well with content management systems and publishing software. It’s hard to think such a massive piece of work will be coming out of my little lappie (laptop).

Me, mighty mouse and my trusty lappie at work.
I’m trying to develop the site to be as much self managing as possible, letting anyone publish content at will, while the website does all the nasty work in the background. And, I don’t think they quite get how complex everything is, and so they’re rushing our already ‘pushing it’ December deadline.
But, as always, I plan to stand my ground and focus on quality work.
Tennis

Soo and James at the Tennis Center on another windy day. May 12th 2008
I haven’t been spending a lot of time at the NMSU Tennis Center since my arm getting better, it’s been windy day after day. My arm was at about 70%, this morning hitting with Jason, preparing for a match tomorrow.
Although he almost got past me today, me winning 7-5, I was crippled :)
I also haven’t been off to a good start on my goals for the summer, especially the one where I’m going to work out like a beast and get in shape for some tournaments. But, I’m working on that; if they would just quit bringing cake to the office, you know I have to have at least two slices!
Home Life & Travel

Walking along the bike trail. Travis, Las Cruces, NM
Oh, and I’ve also been walking everywhere since my bike was stolen.
So, I’ve been getting in a little extra excersize for all the wretched snacking going on at my casa.

So, I thought I’d throw a summer update out there. Actually I was bored, but it just proves my point!

Well, seems as though my slight injury (which turned out not to be so slight) is about, I’d say, 90% healed. I played today without having to struggle at all with it, in fact I had, what felt like, all my power back on my backhand side.
It was nice to rip a few backhands today. :)
Still don’t know what quite triggered the pain, but all I know is I’m glad I didn’t have any trouble with it today! All the nursing, taking time off, and icing must have helped. It’s not even stiff, although it was stiff this morning, seems to be fine now.
So, yeah, there’s my update. Hopefully my last one, goodnight. :)

So, for the last couple of hours I have been playing with some Linux stuff, Wubi/Ubuntu and Fedora 9.
I use an Acer 5050 laptop, just because I like cheap computers, as I’m often clumsy, and they’re pretty durable. If I drop it, or something happens, they’re pretty easy to replace. I would, of course, dig a Macbook, but I’ll wait until I’m filthy rich to be buying those.
The Acer 5050 is probably the ultimate Linux testing machine, because they’ve adopted the cheapest cooperate molested hardware. I’ve had Ubuntu on it a few times before, but often I got frustrated with dealing with problem after problem.
I think Linux, with Gnome, is beautiful, and I love the idea behind Open Source, and I want (so badly) to use Linux! I even love using the command line, but not to get my OS running. I get letdown each time I fit a CD with Linux into my lappie.
Wubi/Ubuntu
First, I wanted to check out the Wubi installer for Ubuntu, which installed quite nicely, but as soon as I got Ubuntu started it let me down yet again, I couldn’t even escape the boot screen.
But Wubi let me uninstall Ubuntu pretty easily from Windows Add/Remove, which was nice.
Fedora 9
I love all the artwork that’s been put into Fedora, but it just doesn’t work. Again, I couldn’t even get past the boot screen.
Linux
I think the only way Linux is going to get a head is if a company like Canonical sells its OS on specific, reliable, hardware, like Apple does.
Well, I’m back in Windows Vista, and although everything works, I feel a little bummed that the latest distros did not work for me.
I just feel bummed.
